Laboratory Technologist – Nursing (Montego Bay Campus)

DESCRIPTION:  

The Laboratory (Nurse) Technologist will be required to assist in the instruction/demonstration of simulation for teaching and learning. He/she will be responsible for the laboratory and will guide students and faculty members in the use of equipment and software, as well as assisting with grading students’ laboratory assignments.

The incumbent will oversee the simulation centre, providing technical and general support for the development and use of simulation-based learning for the nursing programmes, and ensuring compliance with occupational health standards.

Academic Requirements:                      

The successful candidate should possess the following academic qualifications:  

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
• A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in clinical simulation/training 

Additional Requirement:

The applicants should also have: 

• Knowledge of the University of Technology, Jamaica Act, 1999, Policies, Procedures, Rules, Regulations and Ordinances
• Excellent knowledge of troubleshooting technical issues and recommend repairs and maintenance
• Excellent knowledge of programming simulators
• Sound knowledge of how to prepare and clean before and after simulations and create moulage
• knowledge of other specialized software used to support lab sessions
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent planning, organizing and time management skills
