The Nurse Manager is responsible for projecting and integrating the Mission and the Fundamental Values of the Organization inside and outside the Bureau of Latin America and the Caribbean.

  • Develop and implement an inventory management system for all items required for patient care and ensure timely ordering and ongoing availability of supplies
  • Ensures adequate staffing of the Clinic through effective scheduling and assigning of staff.
  • Establish and maintain roster for all full or part time staff at the clinic
  • Sign off on time sheets and provide general supervision to all staff ensuring continuous quality patient care
  • Establish and maintain appointment system for all patients attending the facility
  • Establish and maintain system for the confidential management of patient records
  • Assist as necessary with approved procedures being carried out by physicians
  • Identifies patient service requirements by engendering a personal rapport with potential and actual clients.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality through monitoring of information processing mechanism.
  • Provides information to patients and healthcare team where relevant and requested.
  • Ensure patient retention and care through appointment follow ups.
  • Co-ordinating vacation and other leave while maintaining adequate staffing levels.
  • Develops and implements orientation and education programmes for staff m collaboration with the Operations Manager.
  • Identifies staff/unit training needs and assists in the planning and provision of in-service training.
  • Reviews and updates policies and procedures on the Clinic regularly, ensuring current knowledge and practice.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by designing and implementing procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Implements and communicates nursing policies and procedures to staff, patients and visitors in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Facilitate the timely collection of data for the monitoring of clinic activities and preparation of relevant reports
  • Ensures that appropriate functioning equipment and adequate stock levels are maintained in the Clinic.
  • Conducts regular audits ensuring compliance with established standards.
  • Investigates patients' and staff complaints and concerns and takes necessary action to prevent or correct identified concerns.
  • Prepares patient reports and records and disseminates as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Direct observation of Registered Nurse
  • Patient audits
  • Individual counselling
  • Performance appraisal in accordance with nursing policies
  • Monitoring of patient and family response

 

Education &/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing; Master’s Degree in Public Health, Management or another related field beneficial.
  • Current licensure with a Nursing Board/Council.
  • Post basic training relevant to Clinic management.
  • Certificate in Supervisory Management.

 

Post holder must:

  • Have at least five (5) years current nursing experience, three (3) of which must be in a management capacity with demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Have demonstrated ability to perform efficiently in high stress situations.
  • Be proficient in the use of Windows applications.
  • Be proficient in the use of monitoring equipment, respiratory support machines and other equipment utilized in the department.
  • Exhibit a caring and compassionate attitude, respecting diversity of religion, race, culture, gender, sexual orientation, and medical diagnosis.
