JOB SUMMARY

The Network Field Engineer at AMPLIA Communications Ltd plays a critical role in providing technical support to customers by performing on-site work for installations, repairs, upgrades, troubleshooting, and maintenance. They collaborate with senior engineering staff and the Network Operations Center (NOC) to promptly resolve customer-impacting technical issues, ensuring maximum customer satisfaction while upholding the company's Customer Service Philosophy.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Providing technical support to customers, assisting them with network systems and services-related inquiries.
  • Coordinating, traveling to, and performing on-site customer work, including installations, repairs, upgrades, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Resolving first-level and some second-level customer problems, addressing their questions and concerns.
  • Escalating technical issues, including installation and maintenance problems, as necessary, to ensure swift resolution.
  • Serving as a liaison between the company and customers, effectively communicating customer feedback to the technical design and engineering staff.
  • Assisting the engineering team with problem resolution when required, collaborating closely with them.
  • Creating comprehensive installation and troubleshooting documentation to maintain accurate records and facilitate future tasks.
  • Ensuring strict adherence to applicable Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) legislation and company policies to promote a safe working environment.
  • Committing to attending all mandatory HSE training sessions to stay updated on safety practices.
  • Fulfilling all HSE assigned Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on a continuous basis.
  • Overseeing and participating in all HSE assessments for projects, consulting with the HSE Team as needed, and ensuring compliance with safety measures such as proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and completion of Job Safety Analysis (JSA's) and Proposal Contract and Project (PCP) Forms.
  • Delighting customers daily by embodying and implementing AMPLIA Communications' Customer Service Philosophy.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • BSc in Information Technology, Telecom, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
  • CompTIA Network+ or A+ certification, or equivalent job knowledge, required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and operations of network equipment, power systems, fibre optics, cable management, and data centre environments.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard practices and protocols related to network infrastructure installation and management.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and access to own vehicle for travel to various work locations.
  • Strong technical knowledge of network infrastructure components, including routers, switches, fibre optics, and cabling systems.
  • Proficiency in installation and configuration of network equipment
  • Familiarity with datacentre power systems and their maintenance.
  • Solid understanding of data centre operations, including cooling systems and security measures.
  • Familiarity with industry standards for cable management and best practices for organizing network cabling.
  • Troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve network infrastructure issues promptly.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a team environment, collaborating with engineering and operations teams.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining documentation and records.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment during installations and maintenance.
  • Willingness to stay updated with the latest developments in network infrastructure technologies and practices.
