The Network Administrator is responsible for maintaining, analyzing and troubleshooting the company’s corporate networks. The role is responsible for protecting the organization’s network from unauthorized access, cyberattacks and other security threats.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Assist with the designing, planning, and implementation of various network infrastructures, including LANs, WANs, VPNs and other data communication networks.
  • Maintains the network, including monitoring performance, troubleshooting problems, and ensuring the network is functioning efficiently.
  • Configures and maintains firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), anti-virus and other security-centric network tools.
  • Regularly assess the network for vulnerabilities and conduct penetration tests to identify potential weaknesses.
  • Develop and enforce security policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance with organizational standards.
  • Monitor network activity for suspicious behavior, analyze logs, and identify potential security threats.
  • Conduct risk assessments and execute tests on network and processing systems to ensure proper functioning of activities and security measures
  • Work with other internal and external IT professionals and service providers to ensure a secure network environment.
  • Keep up to date on the latest security threats, vulnerabilities, and best practices. 
  • Provide technical support to users, assisting with network-related issues and training on how to use the network effectively
  • Collaborates with users to understand and support a variety of issues and needs including data access, security violations, and programming modifications.
  • Documents network configuration, troubleshooting procedures, and tests related to network configuration and security. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.  

EDUCATION/ TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or its equivalent in a relevant discipline from a recognized institution and at least three (3) years’ experience in a position of a similar nature.  
    OR
  • IT Certification in the following areas: CompTIA Network+ or Security+, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) V3 Foundation Certificate, etc.
  • Experience working in compliance with International Organization for Standards (ISO) standards is an asset.

  • Thorough understanding of computer-related security systems, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, password protection and authentication, and site-specific controls on physical access to computers.
  • A good understanding of network security principles and practices

SPECIAL CONDITIONS/ PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to work around fixed and mobile factory equipment and machinery.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • May be required to lift and carry computer equipment.
  • May be required to work unpredictable hours in emergencies.
