To assist the organization in the negotiating and settlement of non-motor claims

DIRECT RESPONSIBILITY FOR:

  • Provide supervision and guidance to the Non-Motor team
  • Review Adjusters reports, provide feedback to service providers and make appropriate notes in 4D
  • Discuss and refer complex claims to claims manager
  • Notify Reinsurers of claims likely to exceed retention
  • Submit details to facultative reinsurers
  • Update co-insurers, re-insurers, brokers, clients etc as deemed necessary
  • Ensuring that the team conforms to the company’s policies and procedures
    • Being alert to irregular practices for fraud and money laundering
    • Authorising New Claims, giving instructions regarding Adjusters/Investigators appointment
    • Work Closely with the Underwriting team, providing feedback on risks improvements and moral hazards etc
    • Assist in resolving customer’s complaints in a timely manner
    • Authorising settlement/payment of non motor claims up to authorised limit
    • Ensuring accuracy of assigned claim files by thoroughly reviewing the data on 4D
    • Ensure timely updates to clients, provision of good customer service
    • Ensure adequacy of Reserves  
    • Assist in the coordination of and participating in Periodic Claims Review
    • Assist with formal training within the department
    • Prepare Claims Experiences for brokers/Internal Underwriters
    • Assist team members to develop strong analytical and time management skills
    • Any other duty assigned by the Claims Manager

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/COMPETENCIES: 

  •   Diploma in Insurance Studies /Bachelor’s Degree/ LLB/ACII
  • Five (5) years’ experience working in a leadership position in an insurance company, financial institution or broker dealing with non-motor claims
  • Good inter-personal skills, ability to deal with the public, ability to negotiate a positive outcome for both company and client
  • Above average IT familiarity and aptitude
  • Ability to function under pressure, able to multi-task
  • Strong oral and written skills
  • Strong planning, analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Strong negotiations skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality
  • Excellent communications skills (all levels of Staff) -both orally and written
