Jamaica's leading manufacturing & distribution company seeks to hire a Microbiology Technician to support the Quality Assurance Department.

 

Job Summary:
 
The Microbiology Technician is responsible for conducting microbiological sample tests, and submitting report of all non-conforming microbiological results to the relevant personnel for review in a timely manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Independently perform laboratory tasks according to standard operating procedures.  Tasks include media preparation, sample preparation, sterilization of equipment, consumables and liquids,
  • Clean and sanitize MicroB Laboratory before and after daily testing activities
  • Document work consistently using appropriate data collection tools. Demonstrate proficiency in standard software platforms such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Perform Special Project as outlined by the Department Manager
  • Communicate deviaton from sampling plan identified during sample collection and Report out spec results to relevant individuals
  • Collect, record and test resamples from non-conforming samples
  • Prepare pour plate media for microbiological testing
  • Monitor and verify laboratory equipment operating conditions
  • Adhere to all GMP, Food Safety and Health, Safety and Environment regulations as outlined by WISYNCO.
  • Expected to work on weekend and on Public Holidays whenever the need arises.

 Required Skills and Knowledge:    

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science related field
  • Sound knowledge of MS Office productivity tools (Word,Excel, Outlook)
  • Team Player
  • Excellent presentation and research skill
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Food Handler’s Permit
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Able to communicate well (both in written and oral formats) with all levels of staff
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills
