The accounting manager is responsible for monthly general ledger closing activities to ensure the balances are correct, and the financial statements are in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

Opportunity at a Glance

The accounting Manager is responsible for monthly general ledger closing activities to ensure the balances are correct, and the financial statements are in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. The Accounting Manager will generate monthly financial reporting for the business operations and the field. This role is detail-oriented, and results driven to oversee financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, month-end close activities and managing the Accounts Payable (AP) functions. This role is to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting compliance with accounting standards and effective cost control to support strategic decisions and reports to the Director of Finance MEDVET.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute closing processes, analyze expenses to explain fluctuations from historical trends and actual needs.
  • Prepare monthly analyses of assigned general ledger accounts, research unusual activity, and recommend corrections or adjustments, supported by proper documentation.
  • Guide the Accounts Payable team, oversee invoice processing, vendor reconciliations, payments, and implement controls for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Maintain strong GAAP and SOX controls, safeguard company assets, support audits with documentation, and ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Help develop, monitor, and update annual budgets and forecasts, analyze variances, provide insights to management, and partner with budget holders to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Contribute to finance process improvements, oversee cash flow management and treasury tasks, and support special projects assigned by senior management.
  • Work closely with the home office accounting team to monitor accounts, ensure alignment in reporting, and provide accurate schedules and reconciliations for consolidated reporting.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration Required and
  • Master's Degree Preferred
  • 5+ years Accounting or related financial experience, Required 
  • 3+ years Managerial experience, Required
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem solving and communication (oral and written) skills are required
  • Excellent computer skills are needed with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with Advanced Excel skills
  • Must be able to analyze and assess processes.

  • Must have the ability to facilitate teamwork and cooperation at all levels within the organization and be able to work with limited supervision.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Preferred or
  • ACCA Preferred
