MEDICAL SESSIONAL CONSULTANT - RHEUMATOLOGIST

 

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) is a Statutory Corporation and is charged with the responsibility for the provision of high quality patient care, as the country’s primary acute care medical facility. The QEH has begun the transformation of its people, processes and product delivery towards becoming a truly patient-centred institution. As part of this process, we are seeking to recruit an individual with an interest to joining the Hospital’s team as Sessional Consultant Rheumatologist. JOB SUMMARY

 

The Medical Consultant will assist in overseeing the provision of complete clinical services to the hospital’s patients of his/her department and will undertake to ensure the continuous improvement of these services and departmental systems through the necessary collaborative training and medical research initiatives; the efficient management of staff and patients and the undertaking of the appropriate clinical policies and audit procedures.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

  • A Fully Registered Medical Practitioner with an approved postgraduate qualification in the appropriate specialty from a recognized institution.
  • Not less than four years’ experience in the particular specialty is required.

 

CORE DUTIES

 

  • Overseeing care delivery and coordinate the activities of a multi-disciplinary team ensuring optimal patient outcomes are achieved, with the available resources while complying with requirements.
  • Providing highly specialized assessments of patients referred to the service, based upon appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of tests, observations and interventions.
  • Implementing a range of highly specialized interventions for the individuals and families.

Providing expertise and specialist advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals who are contributing directly to the formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan for patients.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

 

  1. All aspects of clinical care and services related to his/her specialty;
  2. Clinical risk and quality assurance protocols and practices;
  3. Hospital medical operational protocols;
  4. Supervisory management.
