Medical Sales Representative - Duties & Responsibilities
Arrange appointments with doctors, pharmacists and hospital medical teams, which may include pre-arranged appointments or regular ‘cold' calling/visits.
Make presentations to doctors, practice staff and nurses in GP surgeries, hospital doctors and pharmacists in the retail sector.
Build and maintain positive working relationships with medical staff and support administrative staff.
Services existing accounts, obtains orders, and wins/ establishes new accounts/ new customers, as well as developing long-term relationships with existing ones.
Keep detailed records of all contacts
Reach, and if possible exceed, annual sales targets
Plan work schedules and weekly and monthly timetables with sales team and discuss future targets with the sales manager.
Regularly attend company meetings, technical data presentations and briefings.
Keeps management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual category analyses.
Keep up to date with the latest clinical data supplied by the company, and interpret, present and discuss this data with health professionals during presentations and visits.
Analyze sales data to improve results.
Monitors competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, merchandising techniques, etc.
Recommends changes in products, service, and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments
Resolves customer complaints by investigating problems; developing solutions; preparing reports; making recommendations to management
Skills:
Understanding of the sales process and dynamics.
A commitment to excellent customer service.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Superb interpersonal skills, including the ability listen, and build rapport with both customers.
Experience using computers for a variety of tasks.
Must be confident and persistent
Must be patient and self-motivating
Good analytical and research skills
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, economics, sciences, bio medical engineering or related field.
Experience in sales. (2 - 3 years preferred)
Competent in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Must have a driver’s license and drive a reliable vehicle
