Mechanical Engineer

The ideal candidate will combine strong technical engineering expertise with practical, on-the-ground experience in fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) manufacturing, particularly in production, processing, and packaging operations.

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to support the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of mechanical systems within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

This role is critical to ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and optimizing production efficiency across high-volume FMCG manufacturing operations. The successful candidate must have hands-on experience in food and beverage manufacturing, specifically within carbonated and non-carbonated non-alcoholic beverage production environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize mechanical systems, production equipment, and packaging machinery to ensure maximum operational efficiency.
• Provide technical support for mechanical systems, including pneumatic and hydraulic equipment used in high-speed production environments.
• Plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Analyze equipment performance and recommend engineering improvements to reduce downtime, improve reliability, and enhance productivity.
• Develop, interpret, and update mechanical drawings, layouts, and component designs using CAD software and mechanical design tools.
• Support installation, commissioning, and modification of new or upgraded production and packaging equipment.
• Collaborate closely with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to resolve operational and technical issues in a time-sensitive environment.
• Ensure strict compliance with safety standards, quality assurance requirements, and FMCG regulatory guidelines.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, engineering documentation, and technical reports.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within FMCG food and beverage production.
• Mandatory experience in carbonated and/or non-carbonated non-alcoholic beverage production.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including pneumatics, hydraulics, and high-speed packaging machinery.
• Experience working in fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) manufacturing environments is required.
• Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
• Proficiency in CAD software and mechanical design tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure in a continuous production environment.

Preferred Experience (Advantageous)

• Experience in high-volume beverage bottling or processing plants.
• Exposure to continuous production lines and automated packaging systems.
• Understanding of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement principles.
