Mechanical Engineer II – Downstream Oil & Gas

Role Overview 

The Mechanical Engineer II will work with other engineers and internal company personnel to develop design solutions, exceling in engineering, design, and project management. The Mechanical Engineer II will perform engineering duties in all project phases e.g., conceptual design, front-end design, detail engineering and design and plant commissioning. The below details the main responsibilities of the role but are not limited to these.

Candidate Pre-requisites:

• Minimum BSc Mechanical Engineering from an Accredited University

• Intermediate to advanced Piping Design experience

• 5+ years’ engineering experience in O+G industry

• Well organized with the ability to multi-task and have good communication skills

• Demonstrated ability to think and work independently

• Must be client-focused and advancement oriented.

• Experience with leading and overseeing teams of at least 3-5 employees per project

• Engineering software proficiency (AutoCAD, Bentley Autopipe) would be an asset

 
Key Responsibilities 

  • Work as a member of project teams to develop project scope and design.
  • Always utilize a safe approach in design and working practices.
  • Encourage attention to Health, Safety, Security and Environment in other personnel.
  • Develop and roll out technical work instructions for the overall benefit of the team where necessary
  • Follow procedures for document control and discipline design.
  • Conceptualize mechanical designs and produce solutions that are safe, cost effective, fit for purpose and add value to CLIENT and external parties.
  • Ensure operational and maintenance issues are addressed in the design.
  • Conduct site visits to determine information to allow execution of scopes of work.
  • Attend technical meetings as required by Lead or Client(s).
  • Attend Design Reviews, HAZOPs, and Constructability Assessments.
  • Communicate with Discipline Engineers and Designers to ensure design integrity and consistency.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on problem management and resolutions
  • Provide engineering technical guidance by training, mentoring and coaching new team members on job specific tasks and computer software.
  • Identify areas of concern during any project to the Project Lead while proposing necessary corrective action.
  • Develop a working relationship with clients and suppliers / vendor personnel.
  • Communicate with Operations and Maintenance personnel to determine any opportunities where CLIENT could provide solutions to existing problems or for improving the existing practice
  • Supervise the installation of engineering projects at client site.
  • Conduct peer reviews on engineering work packages
  • Support Lead Engineer, the management team and other team members as needed.
  • Participate in Business Development activities as we as work with Sales team to understand customer requirements and to provide sales support
  • Create and maintain documentation to allow effective knowledge transfer through the company.
