Inspecting, maintaining, and repairing a variety of vehicles and machinery to ensure their safe and efficient operation. This role requires a strong knowledge of mechanical systems, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect vehicles and machinery to identify issues and determine necessary repairs.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems using computerized diagnostic equipment and manual inspection techniques.
  • Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, brake replacements, and fluid checks.
  • Repair or replace malfunctioning components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering systems, and electrical systems.
  • Test repaired vehicles and equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety.
  • Document all maintenance and repair work performed, including parts used and labor hours as required by the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Advise supervisors on the condition of vehicles/equipment and recommended repairs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to safety regulations.
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns on and off AMP’s compound.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a formal training program or apprenticeship preferred.
  • Proven experience as a mechanic or in a similar role.
  • Proven experience with diesel and hydraulic equipment repairs and maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive or machinery systems and repair techniques.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read technical manuals and schematics.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual tasks and lift heavy objects.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
