JOB OVERVIEW:
The Marketing and Communication Officer provides support to the Marketing & Communication operations in the areas of planning and executing all marketing and communication programmes. The Officer aids in the creation of promotional and staff related events, marketing and communication channels, and marketing material. This role performs a variety operational activity in support of marketing and communication campaigns and programmes within the Marketing and Communication Department.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 
1.    Main Duties
•    Contribute to the development, execution and application of strategic marketing and communication plans that support the overall strategic direction of Guardian Group, as well as assist with the customisation of marketing and communication plans for maximum effectiveness in the local market and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
•    Develop and prepare reports as required, using analytics and other feedback mechanisms, to direct measurement of communication efforts.
•    Prepare and monitor marketing and communication budgets.
•    Collaborate and coordinate with the Agency on marketing and communication campaigns.

2.    Digital Communication Management
•    Contribute and support with the development, design and implementation of strategic digital plans.
•    Monitor and regularly audit all digital communication platforms to ensure that content is in line with policies and procedures.

3.    Media Relations Management
•    Coordinate and monitor national, regional & international news for evolving trends, opinions in the marketplace, and report information as required.
•    Liaise with media within the press and publicity community, when required. Ensure that media lists are updated regularly with relevant contact details.
•    Coordinate press events as assigned.
•    Ensure that the business attains the relevant media mileage through earned media opportunities

4.    Branding and Advertising (Internal & External)
•    Monitor and ensure compliance of the application of the brand.
•    Contribute and coordinate to the design and implementation of internal communication and advertising initiatives. 
•    Liaise with the agency and other third-party suppliers to ensure accurate application of the brand identity and guidelines, via campaigns and initiatives.

5.    Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR)
•    Support the development of an effective CSR Programme, as well as the establishment of charity partnership programmes with key business contacts.
•    Execute on various CSR programmes

6.    Event Management
•    Organise and coordinate various events on behalf of the business.

7.    Marketing Responsibilities
•    Define and continuously improve segmentation and prospecting algorithms.
•    Monitor the marketplace and generate reports of new marketing initiatives. 
•    Coordinate market research and conduct required analysis to understand market tendencies.
•    Identify product improvements/enhancements and new products by remaining current on industry trends and market activities.
•    Recommend and report on feasibility studies for possible channel expansion and alternative distribution opportunities.
•    Support with business lead generation opportunities

8.    Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.                              

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: 
•    Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communication, Branding or in a related field from a recognized tertiary level educational institution.
•    A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Marketing, Communication or Branding
•    Strong media relations, outreach and communication expertise and experience

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:
As a regulated entity with obligations under the Know Your Employee guidelines, a Certificate of Character is required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION: 
The Marketing and Communication Officer must be well organised, creative and extremely innovative. He/she must be able to effectively manage time and resources and use his/her initiative to achieve stated objectives. He/She must have excellent communication skills (oral and written) and possess a solid understand of marketing communication strategy.
