Inventory Management, Reconciliations to be prepared/reviewed monthly, other monthly activities

Responsibilities and Duties of Manufacturing Accountant:

Supervisory duties:

Oversee the work of the inventory analysts.

Costing:

  1. Value Chain Local and Export: to review quarterly and inform pricing decisions/collaborate with Commercial teams.
  1. Assess pricing decisions and stress test the same.
  2. Review standing costing quarterly (or upon triggering event) as well as to develop appropriate standards for new SKUs. This includes but is not limited to performing cost roll-ups and Bill of Materials reviews.
  3. Review/ Prepare Inventory costings for imported finished goods and manufactured products.

Inventory Management:

  1. Lead and co-ordinate all inventory counts (monthly, quarterly, annually). This includes the following:
  • Clear and precise cut off observed across all business units. This includes but is not limited to ensuring all production orders are closed, ensuring all goods physically received were received on the system, ensuring all transfer orders are completed, ensuring sales are posted, ensuring closure of quarantine orders done.

  • Warehouses are physically ready to be counted.
  • Adequate staffing is sourced and agreed prior.
  • Ensure Inventory variances are properly investigated and cleared

  • Timely posting of inventory count results.

Reconciliations to be prepared/reviewed monthly:

  1. Inventory subledger (all warehouses/locations on AX) to general ledger reconciliations.
  2. Goods in transit reconciliation
  3. Import clearing reconciliation
  4. Inventory clearing reconciliation
  5. GP analysis to reconcile the budgeted GP to the actual GP.

Other Monthly activities:

  1. Assess impact of sales mix on cost of sales.
  2. Review of price variances as well as usage variances. Depending on nature of variances, to inform relevant decisions around standards.
  3. Review and assess Margins by SKU as well as GP by SKU.
  4. To assess divisional performance.
  5. Review of scrap and damages; depending on nature of deviations, to inform relevant decisions.

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. ACCA or equivalent.
  2. At least 3 - 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  3. Must have supervisory experience
