The Manager - Merchandise plays a critical role in ensuring that Unicomer Jamaica offers dynamic and commercially viable product assortment. This position requires a keen understanding of market trends, customer preferences, and supply chain logistics to optimize stock levels, maximize product availability, and drive revenue growth. The individual in this role will be responsible for executing merchandising strategies that align with the company's strategic, financial, and operational objectives.

THE JOB

The ability to forecast demand, manage supplier relationships, and develop innovative merchandising strategies will be crucial for success. LEVEL OF AUTHORITY & SENIORITY LEVEL

• Name of Role: Merchandising Manager

• Reports to: Commercial Director

• Level of Authority:

Decision-making authority on local range planning, pricing strategies, and SKU management. 

Oversight of Merchandise Officers, Fulfilment Planners, and indirect line Merchandise Administrators.

Collaboration with Regional Buyers/Merchandise Managers for approvals on budgetary allocations and strategic plans. o Authority to negotiate with local suppliers within company policies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (SUMMARY)

• Develop and manage local range plans in alignment with Regional Buyers/Merchandise Managers.

• Ensure balanced product offerings in stores to appeal to diverse customer segments.

• Execute pricing strategies, maintain store profiles, and oversee merchandising execution.

• Conduct SKU management, submit product forecasts, and monitor stock levels.

• Collaborate with marketing, operations, and suppliers to drive sales and product innovation.

• Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and pricing strategies to maintain competitiveness.

• Support new store openings, refits, and overall merchandising effectiveness.

• Provide guidance and development opportunities to team members.

KEY COMPETENCIES & SKILLS

• Strong numerical and analytical skills for pricing, margin, and stock management.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a strong emphasis on MS Excel and supply chain management software/tools

• Ability to forecast sales, adjust plans based on trends, and generate purchase orders.

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation abilities.

• Effective negotiation skills and supplier relationship management.

• Strong leadership and problem-solving capabilities.

• Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
