VACANCY

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the following position at the North-Central Regional Health Authority (NCRHA): 

MANAGER, ENGINEERING OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE 

The incumbent will be responsible for managing the maintenance of the engineering infrastructure and operations at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Confers with management to discuss projects specifications and procedures.
  • Coordinates and direct projects making detailed plans to accomplish goals/objectives and direct the integration of the clinical activates.
  • Provides specialised technical support and consulting services to various areas of the institutions.
  • Monitors and communicates on International Organization for Standardization (ISO) International Standards and Certification.
  • Sensitizes senior staff on important and relevant service/design decisions.
  • Ensures that the Authority’s objectives are achieved in an efficient manner at all times.
  • Engages with external agencies, inclusive of the Ministry of Health and Senior Engineers on the execution of projects.
  • Facilitates with the preparation of departmental budgets.
  • Facilitates in manpower planning for the department.
  • Responsible for the preparation of designs for engineering works.
  • Plans for equipment change out over a five (5) year duration.
  • Prepares specifications, tender documents and bills of quantities for engineering works
  • Prepares Tender Evaluation Reports.
  • Prepares Completion Reports on engineering contract works.
  • Prepares Board Notes to seek approvals for major engineering works.
  • Mentors new engineers and ensure they receive effective coaching for sound development.
  • Oversees the validation of all projects reports.
  • Manages costs and ensure quality control on engineering works being undertaken.
  • Monitors and advises on space allocation for different departments and new services.
  • Seeks approval for all overtime work before such is executed.
  • Ensures that prompt responses are provided for lodged requests for services at other departments.
  • Prepares Payment Certificates and authorize payments to subcontractors.
  • Reviews specifications and designs done by external consultants and provide user requirements.
  • Ensures that new and existing products and processes are in line with certification requirements
  • Provides technical assistance to Senior Engineers as and when required.
  • Advises on items for disposal and review and recommend disposal methods.
  • Assists with monitoring and certifying works in other Institutions within the Authority in collaboration with the Complex Administrator and formulate engineering related projects.
  • Provides technical assistance to other hospitals on equipment specifications, tender documents and contracts.
  • Performs any other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications, Training and Experience:

  • Master of Science in Engineering with a specialization in Electrical Engineering.
  • Current registration with the Board of Engineering of Trinidad and Tobago.
  • Minimum of Eight (8) years’ experience in a Senior Engineer position at an established industrial or large commercial environment; five (5) years of which in a supervisory capacity of at least forty (40) professional and technical staff.
  • Certification in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Projects and AutoCAD.

*Certificates acquired at foreign universities MUST be supported by certified transcripts as well as evidence that the completed programme is accredited in Trinidad and Tobago
