About the role

CIBC is looking for an experienced Compliance (Non-AML) Risk Professional.

Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Compliance Advisory serves as a compliance contact and trusted advisor to the assigned business segment. Provides oversight of compliance matters with all applicable legal, regulatory, and internal Bank requirements applicable to the assigned segment, ensuring that the business operates within the Bank’s compliance framework. Supports the development and implementation of the strategy for ensuring the compliance requirements are met and that compliance risks are effectively identified, managed, and mitigated across the portfolio. Also supports efforts to drive awareness and embed a culture of compliance throughout the team. Contributes to the design of effective control frameworks, provides insight on regulatory issues, and supports the Bank’s engagement with regulators and key stakeholders. 

 

About success

  • Provides strategic and risk-based advice on all compliance, conduct, and governance matters impacting the businesses.
  • Undertakes for assigned portfolio, the identification, assessment, and mitigation of compliance risks and continuously reviews and updates policies, procedures, monitoring programmes and standards, where required.
  • Supports regulatory engagements and compliance governance, coordinating responses to internal and external reviews, ensuring transparency and credibility in dealing with regulators and business stakeholders and escalating material issues to the Senior Manager when appropriate.
  • Delivers compliance training and communication on new or revised policies, procedures and remediation outcomes.
  • Contributes to the preparation and delivery of comprehensive compliance reports and risk insights.

 About you

  • University degree in business, compliance or risk management or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in compliance or risk management environment, preferably in the financial services industry.
  • Experience in leading compliance advisory activities, including policy development and regulatory engagement.
  • Experience in delivering high quality work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of legislative regulatory requirements impacting the Bank’s strategic business units regionally and the ability to interpret and anticipate regulatory change and the impact on the business.
  • Ability to interpret relevant international standards applicability to local environment where the Bank operates.
  • Good knowledge of Compliance risk and of methodologies sufficient to articulate regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to independently interpret regulatory issues and provide pragmatic, risk-based guidance to senior business leaders
