Manager - Commercial Lines
Reports to: Deputy General Manager (DGM) - Sales
Overview
We’re inviting qualified internal candidates to lead growth across our non-motor (commercial) lines portfolio. This is a performance-driven sales role with responsibility for new business production, account development, and retention across classes such as Property, Liability, Marine & Cargo, Engineering, Bonds and Specialty Risks. The role offers a competitive basic salary plus commission.
Key Responsibilities
• Own and deliver commercial-lines GWP (Gross Written Premiums), new business, retention, and cross-sell targets.
• Build and manage a proactive pipeline: prospecting, qualifying, and closing mid-market and corporate opportunities.
• Lead proposal development, placement strategy, and negotiations with insurers to secure optimal terms.
• Oversee onboarding and servicing standards for commercial clients, ensuring exceptional customer experience and compliant documentation.
• Partner with DGM – Sales on pricing strategies, campaigns, and sales cadence; provide weekly KPI reporting.
• Coach and collaborate with CSAs/Producers assigned to commercial accounts; model best-practice sales activities.
• Maintain strong market relationships and current knowledge of insurers’ appetites, policy wordings, and emerging risks.
Qualifications & Experience
• Proven success in B2B insurance sales (commercial lines) or relevant client-facing underwriting/ broking experience.
• Sound technical knowledge of key non-motor classes and placement processes.
• Strong negotiation, presentation, and relationship-management skills.
• Proficiency with brokerage MIS/CRM and disciplined pipeline management.
• Professional insurance credentials (e.g., in progress or completed) are an asset.
