Our client in the Banking and Finance Sector, a well-established financial institution, is seeking an experienced and results-oriented Manager – Collections to lead and strengthen its credit recovery operations.


Job Summary:

This senior role is responsible for managing delinquent accounts from one (1) day overdue onward, driving recovery strategies, overseeing legal and asset recovery processes, and leading a high-performing collections team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all delinquent accounts, ensuring timely follow-up and recovery actions from one (1) day overdue onward.

  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce delinquency rates and improve overall portfolio performance.

  • Set, monitor, and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the collections team.

  • Supervise, coach, and evaluate Collections Officers and Supervisors to ensure performance objectives are achieved.

  • Oversee asset repossession, valuation, marketing, and sale in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Coordinate litigation activities, loan judgments, and the recovery of written-off debts.

  • Address escalated member complaints and complex delinquency cases with professionalism and discretion.

  • Assess delinquent accounts for loan rescheduling or restructuring and monitor performance post-adjustment.

  • Lead investigations into high-risk, complex, or untraceable accounts, including skip tracing initiatives.

  • Prepare and present management reports on delinquency trends, recovery rates, and portfolio performance.

  • Ensure all collections activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.

  • Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to support organisational objectives.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

  • Minimum 7–10 years’ experience in collections, credit risk, or asset recovery.

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a supervisory or managerial role.

  • Experience within a Credit Union or financial services environment will be an asset.

  • Strong working knowledge of delinquency management, litigation, loan rescheduling, and asset recovery.

  • Sound understanding of regulatory requirements, including the Co-operative Societies Act.

  • Proven experience in KPI development, portfolio management, and strategic planning.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel, and collections systems.
