The Manager - Broker Department is a Business Leader and carries the full set of business accountabilities (Strategy, Profit, Revenue, Sales Growth, 1st Class Customer Experience and inner drive for increased customer satisfaction).

 

Business Development/Revenue Generation

  • Consistently identify new opportunities for cross-selling and up-selling the company’s products across the Team
  • Formulate, develop and implement special projects to drive increased revenues for the Team
  • To support BDUs Underwriters and Executive Management with effectively growing Beacon’s book of business
  • To assist with unallocated accounting queries and billing queries.
  • Ensure efficient management of the retention process
  • To ensure high and acceptable levels of Business Retention throughout Broker Market. No less than 85% retention acceptable.
  • To actively monitor new business growth within the department, ensuring minimum targets are met with necessary controls in place to ensure adherence

 

Compliance Management

  • Ensure full compliance to company policy and remain knowledgeable of Industry Trends, Economic Factors and understanding of relevant Insurance Industry best practices.
  • Ensure that underwriting guidelines are adhered to at all times and opportunities for profitable growth are achieved.
  • Liaise with Head Compliance Department to ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements and providing timely updates with any pending and or regulatory changes as required
  • To be a liaison officer for a department in terms of all Anti Money Laundering initiatives as directed by Compliance Department for the Broker Department.

 

Reporting

  • monthly and weekly reports as required.
  • Conduct internal audits for compliance with agreed company policies and procedures
  • Prepare and submit by deadline dates to the assigned Vice President, Operations Plans and Budgets, Monthly Reports and any additional information as required.

 

Customer Service

  • Tiimely response to customer queries and requests.
  • Ensure proper management of all correspondence, tasks, queries and customer complaints within the Unit
  •  Provide technical advice to Customers and Underwriters when necessary.
  • Liaise with the Marketing department to ensure that sales & marketing materials, client communications and press initiatives are executed in alignment to the corporate objectives

 

Claims Support

Determine coverage or absence thereof

Provide briefs to the claims department as required on the claimant and the respective risk(s).

To be a liaison officer for claims management in managing customer expectations.

 

Administration

Effectively work with key staff members to review Debtors, Queries and Unallocated Premiums.

 

People Management

  • Manage the time and attendance of staff members
  • Conduct Performance evaluations
  • Set and monitor the achievement of SMART goals and initiatives within the Division.
  • Conduct coaching and mentoring for team members
  • Manage staff members in line with company policies and procedures
  • Create performance goals, training plans and professional development plans for staff members
  • Conduct Monthly – Check-Ins with team members to ensure they are meeting set goals within timelines.
  • Create and manage Onboarding plans where required.
  • Ensure accurate and efficient data entry on Company’s operating system by underwriters.
  • Foster a supportive and positive Branch culture by ensuring frequent and effective team-building activities are executed in the Branch.
  • Actively ensure that Branch Staff are adequately trained in all aspects of customer service delivery and underwriting methods by identification of gaps and recommending of appropriate actions to improve the same 

 

Team Support

Act as a subject matter expert for relevant learning and development programmes

Create and conduct learning and development programmes and evaluations for assigned team members

Complete and other job-related tasks that is related to the success of the Division and Branch.

 

Qualifications

5 CSEC Passes

·       Must include Math and English

 

Certification

·       MBA in Business Management, Economics or Equivalent will be an asset

·       Advanced CII Diploma or industry equivalent

·       Certificate in Supervisory Management or equivalent

·       Microsoft Office Suite Certification

·       AML CFT Certification from Regulatory Authority or other association

·       Advanced certification in Microsoft Powerpoint

 

Experience

·       Minimum 10 -15 years of technical experience

·       Minimum of 10 years industry experience

·       Minimum 5- 10 years people management experience leading a group of minimum 10 officers.

·       Proven track record of successfully driving production targets

·       Sound knowledge of Insurance and other key legislation and regulations
