Job Profile

  • To develop promotional strategies positioning Jamaica as a viable source for export of Agribusiness exports for identified target markets.
  • To develop and execute sector promotional and positioning strategies both locally and overseas geared towards growing exports of selected Jamaican Agribusiness products and services; as well as positively influence the sustainable growth and development of the export sector.
  • To build relationships with exporters and export ready firms to properly identify leads and opportunities for conversion into buyers in the overseas markets.
  • To build relationships with buyers and influential connectors in target markets.
  • The Agribusiness Exports manager will be responsible for designing and implementing firm and sector level programmes geared at, increasing earnings from export; and to support sustainable export development in line with the JAMPRO Act the National Export Strategy and the JAMPRO Corporate plan.

Key Responsibilities

The incumbent is expected to perform a range of duties to effectively support the  Agribusiness Exports Department and the wider division.  These include but are not limited to the following:

  • Achieve export sales targets for targeted sectors;
  • Design, manage and participate in projects geared at improving the export capability of potential and existing exporters;
  • Design and manage the implementation of innovative marketing and promotional strategies and programmes to help exporters capitalize on export opportunities in identified markets
  • Assist exporters in identifying and accessing appropriate markets for products within focus sectors
  • Manage the coordination of inward and outward trade missions; and participation in trade events/ activities for the benefit of exporters
  • Establish strategic networks and mange relationships with key stakeholders locally and internationally
  • Execute programmes and activities in keeping with the National Export Strategy
  • Coordinate the execution of diagnostics/gap analysis of companies to be assisted by the Dept.
  • Coordinate the development of export plans for companies to be assisted
  • Manage the delivery of value added assistance to companies to be assisted  including the identification of the most suitable composition of project teams, from within or outside JAMPRO as appropriate, in order to ensure cost-effective and high levels of service quality from those teams;
  • Design sector development initiatives based on common issues identified during the diagnostic process
  • Access technical assistance via donor agencies to support sector and firm initiatives
  • Manage client servicing activities at the firm and sector level;
  • Assess on a regular basis issues affecting exporters based on reports received from clients or market observations and design & execute programmes to address issues
  • Coordinate and manage all market development activities for targeted sectors;
  • Ensure appropriate client records and leads are recorded in the CRM system;
  • Ensure operational familiarity with the trade agreements governing bilateral relationships with targeted markets/countries.
  • Conduct on-going evaluation and monitoring of initiatives executed by the dept. by benchmarking progress against work programme
  • Prepare monthly and annual reports on the work of the department and leads converted
  • Lead the strategic planning activities of the department and the implementation of the departments operational plan
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, including management of required procurement activities.
  • Forecast and achieve annual performance metrics for the Department
  • Represent JAMPRO at national, regional and international promotional forums related to the targeted sectors
  • Undertake human resource management activities in relation to direct reports, including but not limited to interviewing and selection, preparation of work plans, performance management and evaluation, training, coaching, disciplining and approval of leave for staff in accordance with Agency policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related functions as assigned by the Vice President.

 

Qualifications, Experience and Key Competencies of the Preferred Candidate

  • Graduate degree in management, business or engineering field
  • At least five (5) years’ experience at the middle management level
  • At least (two) 2 years’ experience in sales at the managerial level
  • Experience managing project design and implementation
  • Experience of managing and /or working in planning and executing teams
  • Experience in working in an export related environment
  • Sales and marketing expertise
