A Management Accountant prepares, analyzes, and reports financial information to help guide business decisions, focusing on internal performance, budgeting, forecasting, cost management, and strategic planning, rather than external reporting. Key duties include leading budgeting/forecasting, analyzing variances, providing financial insights to managers, ensuring compliance, managing risk, and optimizing financial systems for profitability and growth. 

Core Responsibilities

  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Develop budgets, forecasts, and financial models, analyzing variances to actuals.
  • Performance Reporting: Prepare management accounts (P&L, Balance Sheet), monthly/quarterly reports, and present findings to management.
  • Strategic Advising: Advise senior leadership on the financial implications of business decisions, helping to formulate strategies.
  • Cost Management: Monitor spending, identify cost-saving opportunities, and control expenditures.
  • Risk Management: Analyze and mitigate financial risks, ensuring adherence to policies and regulations.
  • System Improvement: Oversee and improve financial systems, procedures, and internal controls. 

Key Activities

  • Leading month-end closing processes.
  • Communicating complex financial data to non-financial staff.
  • Overseeing junior accountants and supporting accounting tasks.
  • Contributing to strategic planning and investment decisions.

 Qualifications

  • A BSc. Degree in Accounting or Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with a major in Finance or Accounting
  • ACCA of CPA Certification
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years related experience in an accounting environment, preferably in manufacturing and distribution.
  • Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and specialized software like Quickbooks and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical thinking, report writing and the ability to meet tight deadline
