Maintenance Technician

Oversees the ongoing upkeep, repairs, and technical maintenance of all properties and facilities of Basil’s Bar and the Cotton House Hotel. The role will also include maintenance and servicing of kitchen and restaurant equipment, assisting their teams with various projects as required.

Job Summary: The Maintenance Technician oversees the ongoing upkeep, repairs, and technical maintenance of all properties and facilities of Basil’s Bar on Mustique Island. The role will also include maintenance and servicing of kitchen and restaurant equipment for both Basil’s Bar and The Cotton House Hotel, assisting their teams with various projects as required.

Duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Conduct daily morning site inspections covering:
  • Lighting, refrigeration, paintwork, bathrooms, and public areas.
  • Back-of-house spaces including kitchens, staff zones, and storage areas.
  • Oversee and perform maintenance across plumbing, painting, electrical, refrigeration, and air-conditioning systems.
  • Schedule and perform air-conditioning and ice-machine servicing as well as comprehensive paint and refurbishment work.
  • Inspect, service, and maintain all bar, kitchen, and restaurant refrigeration / freezer units.
  • Carry out repairs on kitchen, electrical, and gas-powered appliances as needed; provide on-call support for urgent breakdowns.
  • Identify required parts or supplies and coordinate orders or purchases through management approval.
  • Assist with setup adjustments, minor construction, and general upkeep to support daily operations.

Requirements:

• Proven hands-on experience in general maintenance, including painting, plumbing, electrical, and refrigeration / air-conditioning systems.
• Strong technical aptitude and practical problem-solving ability.
• Experience maintaining kitchen / restaurant equipment preferred.
• Ability to work independently, efficiently, and safely under minimal supervision.
• Good communication skills and a cooperative attitude toward team and management requests.
