Maintenance Mechanic

To provide a range of basic maintenance services to the Trinidad and Tobago Bureau of Standards internal and external environment. Additionally the successful applicant will be required to:

JOB SUMMARY

To provide a range of basic maintenance services to the Bureau's internal and external environment. The ideal candidate must possess:

1. Physical ability to lift and carry 25-50 pounds as required by the demands of the role.  
2. Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision, while maintaining high levels of discipline and professional conduct at all times. 

Additionally the successful applicant will be required to: 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 Building/ Plant Maintenance

1. Check on a daily basis all machines in use and provide the necessary supplies for easy and safe operation, e.g: photocopiers, refrigerators, lawn mowers, vacuum cleaners etc.
2. Check on a daily basis all plant equipment and fixtures, e.g: air condition units, plumbing, electrical supply, water tanks, etc;  
3. Ensure on a daily basis that all power and light switches in use are in their correct on/off positions
4. Assist or carry out work for general maintenance of the entire building e.g. painting, plumbing etc.
5. Check on a daily basis the Bureau’s vehicles e.g. oil, gas, warm-up water, brakes fluid and if necessary take to service station to top up gas.
6. Assist in the relocation of offices and provision of conference facilities; maintain and secure all tools and equipment in stock. Report all irregularities (pertaining to maintenance) to supervisor

Ground and External Premises

1. Cut, edge and generally maintain in good order as necessary or as directed. Clean, wash and keep free from obstruction and generally maintain in good order the Bureau’s premises as necessary or as directed. Assist staff with security services as required. Perform any other related duties as directed.

Fence, Walkways, Drains, Driveway and park:

1. Clean, wash and keep free from obstructions and generally maintains in good order as necessary or directed.
2. Assist staff with Security Services as required; and
3. Perform and other related duties as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

1. Training as evidenced by the possession of General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level or CXC General Proficiency Level.
2. Police certificate of character is required
3. Certificate of completion in Basic Maintenance of Mechanical/Electrical Equipment will be an asset. 
4. Three (3) years experience in a similar work environment.
5. Domestic Electrician certificate will be an asset.
6. Certificate in plumbing installation and maintenance will be an asset.

                                                                                                                                   REMUNERATION

In accordance with Statutory Authorities Act, the salary will be paid in Range 18 ($5,400-$6,448-$6,889)
