The Role
Reporting to the Managing Director, the position is responsible for managing, developing and implementing tactical maintenance initiatives to improve efficiency, maximize equipment reliability and reduce expenses across locations island-wide. The individual chosen will need to:
- Direct department operations with a structured policy for preventative and predictive maintenance, running and emergency repairs.
- Establish computerized maintenance management, partnering with Stores on spare part tracking/equipment maintenance history and ensuring staff capability to maximise impact.
- Together with HR and Production, develop and implement effective Health, Safety & Environmental programs, practices and procedures, compliant with applicable laws and regulations.
- The role requires a caliber of leadership that can bring effective management of operations across the island under a common standard.
- Liaise with local and overseas parts and lubricants dealerships for availability and updates.
- Maintain a network of healthy stakeholder relationships within the construction industry.
Preferred Profile
- BSc Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; at least 7 years’ solid senior level experience in heavy duty vehicle & equipment maintenance management; production related; multi-site.
- A demonstrated understanding of complex parts, hydraulics, electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Proven strategic planning, forecasting and analytical skills.
- A track record of delivery, problem-solving, flexibility and managing conflicting priorities in a fast paced organization
- Sound people management skills, able to stretch and develop the team and build commitment; a recognized ability to motivate a cohesive cross-functional team, align tactics and resources to deliver on targets.
- A confident communicator, with proven negotiating skills, highly responsive to issues, whose technical competence must be matched by strong leadership skills.
