A maintenance Technician for an aluminium extrusion is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and optimization of machinery and equipment within the plant, including extrusion presses, ovens, and cooling systems.
Key Responsibilities
Preventative Maintenance:
Developing and implementing programs to ensure all machinery, such as extrusion presses, ovens, and cooling systems, receives regular maintenance to prevent breakdowns.
Troubleshooting:
Identifying and resolving mechanical and operational issues with plant equipment to minimize downtime.
Equipment Repair:
Performing minor and emergency repairs to electrical, mechanical, and other plant systems.
Process Optimisation
Analyzing equipment performance and suggesting improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity.
Safety Compliance:
Adhering to and promoting high safety and quality standards within the plant environment.
Record Keeping:
Maintaining detailed logs of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and repair histories.
Essential Skills
Technical Expertise:A strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and the specific machinery used in aluminum extrusion plants.
Problem-Solving:The ability to analyze complex issues and devise effective solutions.
Attention to Detail:Meticulousness in performing maintenance tasks and monitoring equipment.
Teamwork:Collaborating effectively with other maintenance personnel, operators, and management.
Communication:Clear and concise communication of technical information to team members and supervisors.
CAD SoftwareProficiency in CAD software for technical drawings and design work is often a required skill
Required qualification
1 MIC- Journey man or Industrial Maintenance qualification or equivalent with knowledge of PLC control systems Or BE Mechanical is must
2At least five (5) CSEC / CXC ‘O’ Levels including English and
Mathematics
3Certification in Welding from a recognised institution
4 7 to 8years’ Experience in a similar position of manufacturing spanning experience with pneumatic and Hydraulic machines.
5 Understanding and familiarity with Variable Frequency Drives
