Barbados Mills Limited has a vacancy for a Maintenance Technician who will be  responsible for the  installation, repair, and maintenance of machinery and mechanical equipment.  The ideal candidate must be able to carry out preventive maintenance to ensure that machinery and equipment remain operational to minimize downtime.

 JOB REQUIREMENTS:

•  Mechanical Engineering Diploma or equivalent.
• At least 5 years’ experience in equipment maintenance and installation in an industrial or manufacturing entity, with at least 2 years involved in planning and scheduling of maintenance work.
• Strong Millwright experience;
• Working knowledge of CMMS.
• A strong appreciation of industrial health and safety programmes;
• Well-developed electrical knowledge;
• Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills;
• Excellent time management and interpersonal skills
• Basic computing skills.
• Must be able to work on shifts, overtime and call-out

 JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Troubleshoot and diagnose problems.
• Respond to emergency repairs when needed.
• Identify materials needed to do a job.
• Interpret drawings to ensure that specifications are met.
• Does general housekeeping on the job.
• Develops specifications from general descriptions.
• Examines machinery to detect imperfections.
• Dismantles machinery to gain access to defective parts.
• Correct faults and reassemble parts.
• Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment in accordance with diagrams and operation manuals.
• Analyses cause of damage to equipment to detect any form of abuse.
• Work closely with other Maintenance personnel so as to minimize  downtime.
• Responsible for keeping work area safe at all times.
• Work closely with fabricating and welding personnel in pipe fitting exercises.
