The Port Authority of Jamaica wishes to recruit a MAINTENANCE ATTENDANT I at the Kingston Free Zone.

SALARY SCALE: $2,186,996.23 - $2,483,397.08 per annum.

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of the roadways, landscaped areas and facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• HEART or NCTVET Level 1 PLUS
• One (1) year continuous experience in a similar capacity.

 DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain the:

-          Green areas and flowering plants around buildings and open lots and trees along roadways internally and externally; cutting the green areas, mowing, and clearing lawns of cuttings and weeds.

-          Internal or external curb-walls, sidewalk areas and ensure they are free of unwanted vegetation.

• Monitor garbage collection sites and empty at regular intervals.
• Ensure:

-          Garbage disposal for the factories within the Special Economic Zones. Pick up, package and dispose of trash and debris (discarded lunch boxes, bottles, scraps etc.). Deposit in the skips and drums provided before departure at 3:00 p.m.

-          The proper cleaning of drains to prevent flooding of buildings and roadways.

• Prune trees, trim and maintain hedges, beds and other established vegetation on the compound.
• Remove all leaves, cuttings and other spoils that accrue on the Special Economic Zones and deposit same at the relevant municipal disposal site daily.
• Sweep roadways and clean lawns daily Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
• Assist in the preparation of the buildings for new clients’ occupancy.
• Any other duties assigned.
