Job Summary

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading and optimizing the company’s transportation and logistics operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, timely, and cost-effective movement of bulk products (Fuels and Chemicals) while managing internal fleet assets, haulage contractors and transport teams.

Key deliverables will include but not limited to:

  • External Contractor Management — Select, negotiate, and manage contracts with external transport providers and carriers. Monitor their performance, negotiate rates, ensure service quality, and handle relationships to support peak demands or specialized needs.
  • Dispatching and Coordination — Direct dispatching operations through the dispatcher supervisor. Monitor real-time shipments, handle exceptions (e.g., delays, rerouting), and ensure on-time deliveries while communicating with drivers and customers.
  • Cost Control and Budgeting — Monitor and manage haulage budgets, including fuel, maintenance, and contractor fees. Identify cost-saving opportunities, track KPIs (e.g., cost per mile, on-time delivery), and implement efficiencies.
  • Compliance and Safety — Ensure all operations comply with legal, safety, and regulatory requirements (e.g., driver hours of service, vehicle standards, hazardous materials if applicable). Promote safety protocols, conduct audits, and reduce risks.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting — Track key metrics such as delivery performance, fleet utilization, and contractor reliability. Analyze data to improve processes, prepare reports for management, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Customer and Stakeholder Liaison — Coordinate with internal departments (Retail, Commercial, Chemical) to align on delivery requirements, resolve issues, and maintain high customer satisfaction.
  • Strategic Planning — Develop long-term strategies for transport efficiency, fleet expansion/replacement, sustainability (e.g., reducing carbon footprint), and adapting to business growth or market changes.
