The Logistics Specialist is responsible for the efficient movement, delivery, and receipt of goods while ensuring accuracy, safety, and excellent customer service. This role involves both warehouse support and delivery operations, requiring safe vehicle operation.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

 Delivery & Transport

  • Safely operate a company-issued vehicle to complete deliveries and customer pickups.
  • Plan delivery routes efficiently to meet deadlines and reduce operational delays.
  • Verify goods against invoices and delivery notes before leaving the warehouse.
  • Ensure all goods are properly covered and loads securely fastened to prevent weather or transport damage.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections using the company’s Vehicle Safety Checklist.
  • Report any mechanical or operational issues immediately to management.
  • Maintain general cleanliness and care of the assigned company vehicle.
  • Adhere to all road regulations; driver is liable for any tickets or offenses incurred. Verify the quantities and quality of goods received against delivery notes or invoices.

Warehouse Support

  • Assist with receiving incoming shipments, unloading trucks/containers, and organizing goods.
  • Support warehouse operations when not assigned to driving tasks.
  • Handle specialized materials according to required safety and handling guidelines.
  • Locate, retrieve, or take down goods from storage as required for pickups or deliveries.
  • Operate forklifts or other equipment safely (if certified).
  • Use scanners, ERP systems, or manual logs to ensure accurate inventory updates.
Quality, Compliance & Safety
  • Follow all company health and safety regulations.
  • Participate in random drug testing as required by company policy.
  • Maintain accuracy in documentation and reporting of goods received/dispatched.
  • Assist in the creation and adherence to the company Safety Checklist for logistics operations.
  • Follow policies regarding reimbursement to the company in cases of employee-caused vehicular damage.

 

Education, Knowledge and Experience:

  1. Minimum of five (5) CXC passes, inclusive of Mathematics and English.
  2. 1–2 years’ experience in logistics, warehousing, delivery operations, or a related field (preferred).
  3. Valid manual driver’s license with 4–5 years’ experience driving a panel van or H100 truck.
  4. Forklift certification (asset; required if expected to offload containers).
  5. Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Excel, inventory systems).
  6. Strong communication skills and customer-service orientation.
  7. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  8. Physical ability to lift, move, and secure goods safely.
