This role is critical to ensuring the efficient movement of goods, timely order fulfilment, maintaining stock integrity and fostering a safe and productive work environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the systems, policies and procedures for effective warehouse management.
  • Assist in the formulation of long-term departmental and strategic plans for the Distribution Centre.
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures for all sections of the Distribution Centre.
  • Review the warehouse daily to ensure the facility is secured, well-organized and that damage to products, equipment and staff is prevented.
  • Organize regular stock counts as prescribed by the Inventory Control department.
  • Ensure that goods are delivered in accordance with schedules and reach customers in good condition.
  • Create and foster continuous working relationship with other branches, external contractors and suppliers as appropriate.
  • Perform annual performance assessments of Assistant Managers and other direct reports.
  • Ensure that rewards and recognition are administered effectively in conjunction with the Human Capital department.
  • Act as the first point of resolution for grievance and disciplinary matters for staff under the Manager’s span of control in accordance with the company code of conduct.
  • Determine manpower requirements for overtime work, as required.

 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or other professional certification in Management, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field.
  • Between 5 to 7 years of practical logistics or warehouse experience; with at least 3 years at supervisory or management level.
  • Experience with warehouse management systems and inventory control systems.

  • Ability to work with figures quickly and accurately, with strong reasoning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
