Coordinate receipt of proper documentation for all imported products and the delivery and return of empty containers to the Port in accordance with policies, guidelines & standard operating procedures (SOPs) for effective clearance of the merchandise and reduction of costs.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Ensure ocean and air shipments are cleared within the stipulated timelines to reduce the rent and demurrage expenses.
• Maintain all spreadsheets by updating and logging any new information or documentation pertaining to shipments coming into the country and circulating to key stakeholders to provide visibility and transparency of all inbound containers.
• Prepare Rent and Demurrage reports, which is to be sent to management, to advise on the cost incurred during the clearance process.
• Aid with the processing of payments for suppliers and customs, as instructed, and update all spread sheets when payments are processed to effectively reimburse suppliers for services rendered.
• Coordinate with Customs and Warehouse to ascertain what containers are physically there and which ones were offloaded to minimize demurrage and rent costs.
• Provide updates to internal and external stakeholders regarding the container examination by the Customs and Excise Division through liaising with in-house customs and external brokers to find out when containers are going to be examined to enable proper planning of merchandise receipt.
• Perform any other duties that may be assigned to you by your management line to ensure the effective operation of the department.
JOB SPECIFICATION:
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION:
• Five (5) GCE/CXC/CSEC Ordinary Level passes including Mathematics and Language.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Two (2) years’ experience in a logistics and warehouse environment.
