LEAD TECHNICIAN

Job Summary

Supervises the mechanical repairs to ensure that they are undertaken and completed in a timely manner to ensure that the organisation is efficient. He/she will support Kemtek’s long term strategic management objectives through completion of all assigned tasked in the shortest possible time with the highest quality. 

Responsibilities

  • Follow all site safety requirements to ensure the safety and wellbeing management of all under your supervision
  • Use electronic technician software to diagnose electronic failure of machinery/equipment
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical machinery repairs of assigned heavy duty equipment/machines and trucks
  • Carry Out scheduled preventive maintenance for assigned heavy-duty equipment
  • Verifies and signs service reports for submission to the Junior Planner / Technical Services Support Officer
  • Ensure that all jobs to be done are documented via the maintenance management software or job card report and submitted in a timely manner
  • Supervises the Technicians, Mechanic Helpers, Interns and Temporary employees
  • Prepare reports for submission to the Technical Services Manager/Director as required
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the team members to ensure high levels of performance
  • Coach and instructs team members to ensure higher quality and efficiency of all repairs and vehicle maintenance assignments
  • Determine the required parts for all repairs of heavy-duty equipment and submit for ordering
  • Assist with ordering parts via service information system software

Candidates must have the following:

  • Bachelors Degree or Associate Degree Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Technology
  • At least 5 years in Heavy Duty Machinery Repair
  • Training in Heavy Duty Machinery/ Equipment Repair 
  • Supervisory Management Certificate
  • Strong knowledge of the use of diagnostic scanner electronic tools
  • Must work well under pressure
  • Ability to multi-task to meet timelines
  • High level of observation
