To research, analyze and advise on issues relative to access to and disposal of land to enable the Company to secure and maintain authorized access to a portfolio of lands and mineral deposits that may be viable for hydrocarbon exploitation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identifies lands of interest to the Company, prepares report on ownership for land acquisition or agreements and assists in the request and verification of title to lands for the Company’s operations.
  • Engages and negotiates with landowners to secure title to land and subsurface interests and access for the Company.
  • Verifies title to land for the payment of royalty and rents to surface owners and private owners of mineral deposits.
  • Negotiates for and secures written consent of landowners/occupiers and access via lease, purchase or otherwise to conduct Company’s operations and prepares documents for compensation.
  • Ensures that all acquisitions, releases, leases and landholding interests and related information are recorded in Land Holdings Management System (LHMS) or equivalent database.
  • Provides and verifies data to the GIS coordinator to update the company’s GIS database.
  • Ensures that all ownership obstacles are cleared and statutory requirements and payments are cleared so as to allow for clear occupancy and unfettered operation on the Company’s part.
  • Conducts inspections, investigations, assessments and settlement of damage claims on reports received from landowners, assesses, analyses and advises on claims. 
  • Prepares work requisition and assignment to valuators of damage claims, reviews and certifies same and monitors the work of the valuators.
  • Conducts site visits and field investigations and follows up on reported oil spills and provides timely reports on clearing, pollution and violation matters.
  •  Represents the Company at court and pollution tribunals as a witness or subject matter expert as necessary.
  • Conducts site visits and field investigations and follows up and works with other business units on violations in relation to company lands and field assets and provides timely reports to Land Administrator.
  • Follows up on residential leases, tracks and monitors compliance with terms and conditions of leases, processes renewals and or termination as the case may be and ensures that finance information for payment of rent is up to date.
  • Prepares reports on, makes recommendation for, and supports valuation of land leased by company to third parties.
  • Prepares correspondence as required in relation to all of the above functions.
  • Undertakes any other assignments required from time to time, to fulfil the job purpose.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

  • Technician’s Diploma in Civil Engineering, Survey or Estate Management.

Minimum Experience

  • A minimum of two (2) years’ related experience with a minimum of one (1) year in the oil and gas industry.
