Laboratory Technician

Seeking continuous improvement in every facet of team performance with a keen emphasis on safety, quality, cost, and productivity. Performs lab testing to support production by providing timely and accurate testing, data input, and reporting of results to the production operation.

Safety, this is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability

 to initiate, lead and uphold safety policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times;

• Adherence to all safety guidelines, practices and standard procedures.
• Conduct testing of Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) product and raw materials.
• Ability to manually handle loads in range 10 to 20kg in high frequency.
• Conduct testing of water system and other samples.
• Support process optimization projects e.g. through SPC analysis.
• Manage records of results from the Nu Iron lab and external labs, including data entry, filing and alerting on abnormalities.
• Create and update lab polices and procedures as and when required.
• Performs housekeeping and monitors lab equipment.
• Troubleshoots and perform preventative maintenance to lab equipment
• Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team to test lab results and process activities.
• Identifying problems and analyzing or reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
