The Laboratory Technician will provide support to the Laboratory Manager as required.

JOB SUMMARY

The Laboratory Technician will provide support to the Laboratory Manager as required. He/she is required to perform testing, monitoring, and recording of results in a timely manner, and report the results of such testing to the relevant authorities.

 

EDUCATION

  • Minimum five (5) CXC O’ Level passes (including Mathematics, English, and Chemistry) or equivalent AND
    Relevant tertiary level certification; OR
  • BSc Engineering or Chemistry or equivalent.

 

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum one (1) year experience in a Laboratory Environment
  • Exposure with standard and complete drilling fluids analysis on field samples, both water Base and Oil Base mud with different mud systems would be an asset

ACCOUNTABILITY

The Laboratory Technician is directly accountable to the Laboratory Manager.

 

FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Tests all storage samples, mixing tanks and generating reports as required.
  • Liaises with/advises SCAs of adjustments to blends to achieve the desired properties.
  • Completes QAQC for both API grade and UFG.
  • Executes product testing for Particle Size Distribution as needed.
  • Executes specialized testing as needed.
  • Records changes to Inventory/Stock and Sample log.
  • Completes testing requests for clients as needed.
  • Completes testing for tender requirements.
  • Oversees Laboratory equipment and vessel loadouts and backloads, completing sample log and delivery reports as required.
  • Conducts calibration verification of all Laboratory and rig site equipment.
  • Liaises with all coordinators as required.
  • Support engineers and coordinators with Safety Data sheets as needed.
  • Completes offshore rig samples.
  • Supply request form – delivery to the engineer/ POS office/ heliport.
  • Performs maintenance on laboratory equipment as needed.
  • Required to keep abreast of related technical data/literature and technology.
  • Performs any other related duties required by management to ensure the successful completion and/or running of TES operations.
