- Laboratory Technician (Biomedical)
The Laboratory Technician is responsible for preparing laboratories for classes and assisting students in conducting and recording experiments. He/she will also assist Lecturers in developing and executing laboratories as well as give feedback to Lecturers and Technologists on necessary updates required on lab equipment, supplies and lab efficiency as needed. The Laboratory Technician is also to ensure that safety standards are adhered to by all users of the laboratory, as well as conducting pre-tests as required.
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate Degree in the Biological Sciences with emphasis on Anatomy/Physiology or equivalent qualifications.
- Completion of a 2-year apprenticeship programme in an Anatomy/Physiology laboratory.
- Knowledge of the embalming process
- Knowledge of the preparation of human cadavers
- Knowledge of the maintenance of tanks for the storage of cadavers.
- Knowledge of tools and equipment used.
- Knowledge of anatomical terminology.
