Role Overview:

The Kitchen Steward is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of banquet functions and kitchen activities. Key duties include setting up wares for banquets, retrieving and washing soiled dishes, transporting supplies and food to service areas, and assisting with the plating of banquet meals. The role also involves cleaning and maintaining equipment across various areas such as the dishwashing station, kitchen, cafeteria, compactor, and storage spaces. Additionally, the associate will assist in washing pots, pans, and other kitchen utensils and equipment to ensure a hygienic and efficient working environment. This position requires teamwork, attention to detail, and a commitment to cleanliness and safety standards.

 

Main Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot the dishwashing machine, ensuring cleanliness standards.
  • Handle and store wares carefully to prevent damage and polish silverware.
  • Assist in setting up and breaking down banquets, buffets, and service areas.
  • Clean, sanitize, and organize kitchen equipment, fridges, freezers, and storage areas.
  • Follow health, safety, and sanitation regulations at all times.
  • Support inventory management and organize work areas for efficient shift transitions.
  • Ensure proper waste disposal, including emptying and cleaning garbage containers.
  • Transport and manage soiled and clean wares between service and washing stations.
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, floors, garbage areas, and disposal units.
  • Pre-clean, load, and unload wares, inspecting for cleanliness and rewash if necessary.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to food service.
