KITCHEN MANAGER

Position Overview

The Kitchen Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the kitchen operations, including, but not limited to, kitchen management, food preparation, and quality control, to ensure the delivery of exceptional dining experiences for our patrons. They will also be responsible for ensuring a clean and safe environment in the kitchen and ensuring that the Food Safety Management System procedures are followed in all food preparation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the kitchen team, including hiring, training, and scheduling staff, to maintain high standards of performance and productivity.
  • Oversee food preparation and cooking activities, ensuring that dishes are prepared according to established recipes, quality standards, and food safety regulations.
  • Ensure that all food preparation and cooking is done in accordance of the procedures and guidance of the Food Safety Management System.
  • Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, place orders as needed, and manage food costs to optimize profitability while minimizing waste.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen area, including equipment, workstations, and storage areas, in compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with the management team to plan and execute special events, promotions, and themed nights, coordinating menu offerings and culinary experiences to enhance the guest experience.
  • Stay informed about current food trends, market developments, and industry best practices, and incorporate new ideas and techniques.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork, communication, and professional development among kitchen staff.

 

Key Attributes

  • Previous experience as a Kitchen Manager or Supervisor in a restaurant, bar or hospitality setting.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team of culinary professionals.
  • Creative flair and passion for food, with a keen understanding of flavour profiles, presentation techniques, and culinary trends.
  • Extensive knowledge of kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking methods, menu development, and food safety standards.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the needs of the business.
