Junior Disbursement Officer

FINANCE DIVISION 

 

The National Export-Import Bank of Jamaica Limited (EXIM Bank) is seeking to identify qualified candidates to fill the abovementioned post.

 

SUMMARY OF MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

The incumbent is responsible for:

  • Reviewing incoming invoices/payment requests for accuracy and identifies inconsistencies; 
  • Preparing all payments, (cheques, transfers, RTGS remittances) and relevant vouchers for payment; 
  • Updating the register for all disbursements;
  • Recording and files all vouchers and documentation regarding payments;
  • Responding to queries regarding invoices, disbursement requests, and payments;
  • Preparing Report monthly, on activities under the Bank’s Facilities;
  • Securing the Bank’s cheque books and processed cheques;  
  • Assisting with the effective management of risk and the implementation of risk reduction strategies within the Bank;
  • Assisting with the preparation of schedules as requested;
  • Preparing cancelled security memoranda; 
  • Preparing schedule for payment of the GCT to the Government of Jamaica and files the returns;
  • Preparing monthly schedules for the payment of WTSS to the Government of Jamaica and simultaneously file the returns; and  
  • Reconciling the Taxes paid (GCT & WTSS) with the Taxes withheld. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

The position requires the following qualifications/experience:

  • Combination of 5 CXC and GCE and A’ Levels including English Language and Mathematics or Accounts plus 4 years related work experience; or
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS 

  • Knowledge of Accounting Practices and Principles; 
  • Good problem solving and decision-making skills; 
  • Good written and oral communication skills;
  • Must be able to provide good customer service; 
  • Excellent computer skills, with proficiency in the use of Microsoft, Excel and other related spreadsheet applications; and   
  • Good interpersonal skills with emphasis on teamwork.
