Junior Accountant

Fast paced restaurant seeking an experienced Junior Accountant to support day‑to‑day financial operations, maintain accurate records, and contribute to budgeting and sales analysis in a fast‑paced environment.

Junior Accountant — Restaurant (Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago)

Key responsibilities

• Payroll: Compile and calculate payroll; track hours, overtime, and quotas; prepare payroll documentation.
• Inventory and stock control: Conduct stock-takes; maintain inventory records; reconcile variances.
• Purchasing and supplier management: Place orders for goods; manage supplier relationships and negotiate terms.
• Financial reporting and budgeting: Prepare and present financial reports and budgets on a bi‑monthly basis; support month‑end close.
• Sales tracking and pricing: Monitor daily sales, analyze trends, support pricing decisions, and advise on sales strategies and targets.
• Data management and analysis: Sort, organize, extract and analyze financial and operational data to support decision making.
• Filing and documentation: Maintain accurate filing systems and ensure all financial documents are complete and accessible.
• Other duties: Perform additional accounting tasks as assigned by managing supervisor.

Required skills and experience

• Accounting knowledge: Practical understanding of basic accounting principles and their application.
• Technical proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Excel and Google Sheets skills (data manipulation, formulas, pivot tables).
• Data skills: Demonstrated ability to manage, sort, organize, and extract data; basic data analysis capability.
• Experience: Prior accounting experience required; experience in hospitality or retail preferred.
• Work style: Able to work independently with limited supervision; reliable, punctual, and dependable.
• Work environment: Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, demanding restaurant setting.
