DRIVER / EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

A well-established waste  and environmental services company in the Cayman Islands is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Driver / Equipment Operator.

Reports To: Operations Coordinator & General Manager
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM
(Hours may vary and may include weekends and public holidays as operationally required)

POSITION OVERVIEW

The successful applicant will be responsible for operating trucks and heavy equipment to service hotels, supermarkets, shopping centers, construction sites, and commercial developments throughout the Cayman Islands.

This role requires a dependable, safety-conscious individual with a strong work ethic and commitment to customer service excellence. Applicants must be capable of working independently and as part of a team while ensuring all operations are carried out safely, professionally, and efficiently.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Daily Operations
• Conduct and document daily safety checks and pre-shift inspections
• Review assigned routes and schedules using company systems
• Complete assigned routes and service jobs to company standards
• Safely transport waste and recyclable materials between customer locations, landfill facilities, and recycling centers
• Maintain professional and courteous interactions with customers and the public

Equipment & Vehicle Care
• Wash down trucks and equipment at the end of each shift
• Maintain cleanliness of vehicle interiors and exteriors
• Perform basic greasing and preventative maintenance tasks
• Report defects, fuel usage, and maintenance issues using fleet management systems
• Assist with minor troubleshooting in the event of equipment breakdowns

Administrative Duties
• Accurately complete invoices and service documentation
• Maintain communication with dispatch and management teams
• Ensure company-issued devices (iPad, phone, radio, etc.) remain operational and secured

Site & Safety Responsibilities
• Maintain clean and safe work areas at all times
• Clean up debris after completion of jobs
• Assist with compactor cleaning and general maintenance duties
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid Group 4 Cayman Islands Driver’s License, or equivalent Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) / articulated license from country of origin
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience operating diesel trucks and heavy equipment
• Proven experience operating heavy trucks and equipment, supported by relevant certifications and/or licenses
• Clean police record
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Ability to use electronic devices and mobile applications
• Strong knowledge of Cayman Islands roads and locations
• Willingness to work weekends and public holidays when required
• Ability to work outdoors and perform physically demanding tasks

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in waste management, logistics, or related industries
• Basic mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills
• Experience using fleet management or route management systems
• Strong communication and organizational skills

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• Salary Range: CI$25,000 – CI$35,000 per annum
(Approx. US$30,000 – US$40,000 annually)

• Compensation commensurate with qualifications and experience

• Performance-Based Incentive Program:
Eligible employees may qualify for quarterly performance bonuses of up to 10% of base wages, based on attendance, safety compliance, productivity, and overall job performance.
