Responsible for Planning, executing and coordinating the execution of internal policies and procedures to ensure adherence to internal controls. Conduct audits to assess effectiveness of controls, and to ensure compliance with the applicable laws and regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & COMPETENCIES
  • Participate in the JNHT’s Strategic Planning process – prepare and monitor the department’s operational plan and budget ensuring the functions of the department are executed according to plan and agreed targets achieved.
  • Review and revise the JNHT’s Audit Policies and Procedures in accordance with auditing standards.
  • Keep abreast of current and emerging Auditing trends and best practices and utilize them for continuous improvement of the JNHT’s Auditing programme development and implementation.
  • Review the JNHT’s monthly and fortnightly payroll.
  • Represent the JNHT at meetings, conferences and other functions as directed.
  • Provide guidance/ advice to the Executive Director and Directors on audit matters.
  • Keep abreast of current and emerging Auditing trends and best practices and utilize them for continuous improvement of the JNHT’s Auditing programme development and implementation.
  • Develop and implement an effective audit system to ensure that the operational, financial, procedural, management and other control systems are in accordance with statutory, ethical and organizational requirements.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Auditing strategies, administrative systems and procedures to facilitate the efficient operation of the JNHT.
  • Establish policies for auditing activities, and prepare a comprehensive audit programme for each activity to be audited.
  • Excellent knowledge of auditing standards and procedures.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Financial Administration and Audit Act (FAA Act) and associated regulations.
  • Knowledge of Government’s procurement procedures.
  • Excellent written, oral and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to think strategically and critically.
  • The ability to prioritize among conflicting demands, solve business problems and make rational decisions.
  • High level of initiative, professionalism, good work ethics, strong leadership and management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle challenging situations.
  • Superior organizational, customer service, human relation and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be an effective team leader and team player.

 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree either in Accounts, Finance, Business Administration, Management Economics or any other related field.
  • ACCA Fundamentals or equivalent
  • Successful completion of relevant government auditing courses.
  • Certified Internal Auditor -CIA / Certification in Risk Management Assurance would be an asset.
  • Three (3) years experience in auditing, with at least one year at a senior level.
