OPERATONS INSTRUMENT INSTRUCTOR /ASSESSOR

ROLE RESPONSIBILITES

In this role your core function will be the delivery of training and performance of competence assessments, within this you will be expected to:

1) Develop and present high quality and effective theoretical and practical training and/or coaching
events for all levels of staff as required by current and future business needs.
2) Deliver high quality competence assessments on Fleet Marine Units or where required in line with national and international standards.
3) Develop and deliver high quality On-Job-Training programmes for all Fleet staff where required and ensure all activities meet the correct standards.
4) Deliver clear, effective and accurate administration of work and files.
5) Identification and use of best practice in development of material and delivery of training, coaching and assessments.
6) Application of national and industry standards to training products where appropriate.
7) Identification and use of supporting technology where appropriate.
8 Maintain personal skills against requirements of the role.
9) Innovation and continuous improvement in development and delivery of training and coaching materials.
10 High quality progress reporting to immediate and senior managers.
11)Respond and deliver against a variance of required duties in line with current and future business needs.

In relation to the Application and Development of Presentations and Training Materials you will be responsible for:
1) Prioritisation and application of personnel and training materials and methods.
2) Co-ordination of activities associated with major and minor projects.
3) Provision of support to Marine Units and Shore bases within the bounds of personal accountabilities and responsibilities.
Essentially you must be able to develop and maintain effective working relationships

  • Treat colleagues, third party contractors and visitors in a manner which promotes and maintains goodwill.
  • Reasonable requests from colleagues, third party contactors and visitors are dealt with promptly and willingly in line with company standards.
  • Contribute to the safety of trainees, colleagues, third party contractors and visitors (where appropriate) by taking positive action and making them aware of current procedures.
  • Communications are clear, precise and unambiguous.
  • Language and vocabulary used is appropriate to the workplace and the audience.
  • Ensure welfare and progress is discussed regularly with trainees by following best practice.


  • JOB REQUIREMENTS
    • Recognized qualification in training and or education (Assessor/Verifier awards A1 / A2 and or V1 (D32/33/34) or equivalent), or working towards the qualification or SBM Assessor qualification.
    • 5 years in the Oil and Gas Industry with appropriate mix of operational, training and supervisory
    • experience.
    • Proven effectiveness and initiative in training, coaching, development and assessment of technical personnel.
    • OR 15 Years experience and knowledge of hydrocarbon processing systems and utility systems offshore.
    • Supervisory experience of Permit to Work, Mechanical/Electrical Isolation Standards and Risk Assessment.

    PERSONAL SKILLS
    Supervision:Articulate in written and spoken communication. Ability to liaise effectively at all levels.
    Good understanding of personnel issues and needs of candidates. Proven Leadership
    qualities, some commercial awareness. High standard of technical and professional
    knowledge.

    IT:Strong Computer skills. Familiarisation with standard desktop package. Current word
    processing/databasing/spreadsheet and presentation package.
    Operation of Internet and electronic mail system.
    Strong skills with PowerPoint and Excel.

    Personal:Open, honest, conscientious, flexible, versatile and determined. Capable of both
    independent performance and a team player. Positive nature. Resilient and at ease dealing
    with change. Able to challenge in a positive and constructive manner. Able to identify
    problems and provide quality solutions.

    Training:Good understanding of training principles and methods. Good presentation and
    communications skills at all levels.
