Under the direction of the Business Development Manager the Business Development Officer is accountable for maintaining strong member relations and providing member education on the products and services of the credit union.

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Business Development Manager the Business Development Officer is accountable for maintaining strong member relations and providing member education on the products and services of the credit union.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

(a)        Qualification and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing or equivalent
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in marketing or sales in a financial institution.

(b)        Specific Knowledge Required:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Excellent motivational skills;
  • Good customer service attitude;
  • Sound knowledge of marketing principles and practices 
  • Good research skills;
  • Good business knowledge;
  • Tact and diplomacy;
  • Creativity;
  • Problem solving skills

(c)        Special Conditions Associated with the Job:

  • Required to work beyond normal working hours.
  • Required to travel to other JDF locations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acquire and maintain good understanding about the Credit Union’s unique marketing environment and members
  • Develop prospects from current customers, referral leads, and other sources.
  • Design and implement sales strategies and methods to drive new business within the marketplace.
  • Achieve sales quotas for the Credit Union’s savings and loans portfolio.
  • Acquire and maintain comprehensive knowledge of the Credit Union’s range of products and services to make appropriate recommendations to members and prospective members
  • Assist members in opening new accounts, completing transactions efficiently and in keeping with company policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with members and ensure member satisfaction to enhance the Credit Union’s image. 
  • Maintain complete record of sales calls, business transactions and prepare monthly reports.
  • Provide professional assistance to all members ensuring confidentiality of all member information and resolving issues promptly and effectively. 
  • Maintain knowledge of and interpret all policies and procedures of the Credit Union and ensure compliance with all ethics and conducts. 
  • Participate in leads and networking groups, activities and events and exercise excellence in relationship marketing.
  • Keep abreast of current information affecting the financial industry to promote company products in competitive environment. 

AUTHORITY TO:

  • Represent the Credit Union on visits with interest groups and members.

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA:

  • Timelines and adequacy of research activities.
  • Extent to which members are satisfied with the product offerings.
