Jamaica's leading food and beverage distributor seeks to hire a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician to support our fleet maintenance department.

The Heavy Duty Equipment Technician is responsible for executing preventive and corrective maintenance on Wisynco Group Limited’s fleet of Trucks, and LP Forklifts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Determine truck condition by performing diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts
  • Keep equipment available for use by completing scheduled preventive maintenance, including inspection, tyre rotation and oil changes
  • Collaborate with repair team to diagnose problems and plan repairs
  • Diagnose and repair fuel, hydraulic, brake, steering, electrical, pneumatic, and refrigeration systems
  • Perform major repairs to correct equipment deficiencies, inclusive of removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling and replacing engine, gearbox and drive train assemblies
  • Verify equipment performance by conducting test drives
  • Maintain accurate records of each repair performed
  • Maintain equipment appearance by cleaning and washing
  • Identify required spare parts for inventory and maintain cleanliness in the workshop
  • Any other duty as may be assigned from time to time

Required Qualification, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Certification in heavy duty equipment maintenance or automotive maintenance, preferably in Motor Vehicle Repairs Level 3 from JAGAS or equivalent
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in repair and maintenance of heavy duty equipment
  • Experience maintaining Isuzu, Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Freightliner trucks, Toyota and Hyster LP forklifts would be an asset
  • Possess an open General Driver’s license
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills and the ability to work safely with minimal supervision
  • Ability to lift weight up to 50lbs
