CAREER OPPORTUNITY - PUBLIC RELATIONS & COMMUNICATIONS

The Manager, Public Relations and Communications will manage the company’s internal and external communications. He/she will support the Senior Executive team with the preparation and dissemination of all communications as necessary.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and manage all communications plans.
  • Develop collaborative initiatives with media and other key bodies of influence to actively reinforce commitment and value to the region and the international market.
  • Develop briefings for management and other personnel facing the media.
  • Apply intelligence gained through relationship management to provide feedback on public opinion and issues affecting Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc.
  • Provide an interface between the company and various publics, including interest groups and the media.
  • Co-ordinate public relations activities, with regional/global public relations activities.
  • Prepare press releases and positioning statements as required, in the relevant markets.
  • Deliver presentations to stakeholders and the general public on tourism and related issues.
  • Manage the company’s brand and content for the company’s websites.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong leadership qualities and administrative skills.
  • Strong team player with exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • Good understanding of the evolving tourism environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate an appreciation of the business drivers and performance measures for the business.
  • Have analytical and statistical ability.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and presentational communications skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to evolving situations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or international relations.
  • At least five (5) years’ relevant experience at a senior level in the communications industry.
  • Working knowledge of the tourism industry would be an asset.
