PRODUCTION MANAGER

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Working with the Managers for Extrusion; Maintenance; Finance & Accounts and Sales to co-ordinate continuous improvement in processes to ensure production deadlines are met.
• Enforcing scheduled duties to ensure that production targets are met with accuracy; cost effectiveness; and on a timely basis. Also ensuring that orders are packaged and delivered in strict adherence to customer requests.
• Working in collaboration with the Manager – Human Resources Unit in selecting; orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, evaluating job performance; enforcing policies and procedures.
• Achieving operational objectives by communicating to the Chief Executive Officer, information and recommendations for strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production plans;  ensuring productivity, quality control.    Resolving problems; completing supplier audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change.
• Achieving  Factory Certification(s) from  local and International Regulatory Bodies.
• Meeting  financial objectives by forecasting labour, material; machinery and equipment requirements;  preparing  budgets based on machine productive capacity;  scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; and initiating corrective actions.
• Constantly updating knowledge of trends in the flexible plastic packaging industry; by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations. 

Desired Qualifications & Experience

• Formal Training in  Industrial Engineering
• Experience in Project Management a plus
• Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills
• Logical thinking with creative problem-solving ability
• Great attention to detail
• Good communication and negotiation skills
• Understanding of budget control
• The ability to work well with others and lead a team
• A good understanding of business
• Technical skills relevant to the project
• A minimum of five (5) years managerial/supervisory experience in manufacturing operations preferably in the plastic packaging industry    .

Working Conditions: Will work  in a manufacturing environment and is therefore expected to spend several hours on the floor within the operational departments and work with the Accounting Department.

Typical work days will include late evenings and  weekends.
