This position is responsible to provide day to day management of assigned projects in order to ensure successful achievement of the project objectives and operational efficiency.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible to provide day to day management of assigned projects in order to ensure successful achievement of the project objectives and operational efficiency. The incumbent will also be responsible for the planning, scope and budget management and documenting all aspects of the Project. The Project Manager is expected to create and maintain the overall project plan including schedules, issues, risks, assumptions, financials, change orders, resources, and deliverables in addition to contractor management.

EDUCATION & SPECIALIZED TECHNIQUES

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Civil/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, or equivalent qualifications
  • Project management certifications such as the Project Management Professional Certification (PMP), Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) are highly recommended.

  EXPERIENCE AND LEARNED DISCIPLINE 

  • A minimum of five (5) years progressive experience in contract management, construction and/or project management
  • Sound knowledge and operational experience with JPS T&D electrical system.
  • Experience of equipment and services procurement i.e. specification, tendering, technical evaluation etc.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety standards and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of JPS Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO) system
  • Knowledge of risks associated with various power systems device and equipment installation, maintenance and operation (such as open-circuiting CT secondary circuits, electrostatic discharge on electronic equipment, etc.)
  • Knowledge of impact of actions on system security, personnel safety and equipment damage.
  • Three years’ project management experience effectively managing projects from requirements gathering to close-out phases.
  • Three years’ project management experience managing multiple projects simultaneously. Experience must include projects comprised of weak and balanced matrix team members who do not report directly to the Project Manager
  • Three years’ experience using an established project management methodology including managing standard deliverables, risks, issues and escalation.
  • Expert level knowledge of standard Project Management tools (MS Project, Visio, MS Office Suite)

ELEMENTS OF MAJOR DUTIES 

  1. Implement assigned projects from Initiating - Planning Stage – Through Execution & Closing.
  2. Develop project proposal documents and solicit budgetary approvals when required
  3. Conduct research of new and emerging technologies and work methodologies
  4. Specifies and designs automation and protection infrastructure as required.
  5. Ensure safe interfacing with critical active Transmission & Distribution high voltage and protection systems, for the implementation of improvement projects
  6. Supervise and lead the timely completion projects.
  7. Promulgate via various communication means protection improvement projects and their impact/implication.
  8. Oversee persons assigned to the projects being implemented
  9. Develop and implement project planning and execution work plans for project implementation.
  10. Engage critical operational and management personnel during project planning and execution and secure their approval per operational requirements
