The Human Resource (HR) Assistant provides support in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.

Job summary

The Human Resource (HR) Assistant provides support in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for the recruitment, onboarding, development and retention of staff to meet the organisation’s needs.   The role requires the employment of human resources best practices, the ability to prioritize duties, and to track, organize, and follow up on various action items and tasks to ensure the efficient delivery of HR services to the organisation and to our team members.

 Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and manage Employment Contracts
  • Co-ordinate the recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes and paperwork
  • Co-ordinate and administer all processes involved with staff movements.
  • Prepare and update job descriptions
  • Assist with drafting and updating HR policies and procedures
  • Conduct periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
  • Manage Employee Benefits and Welfare programs
  • Maintain the Leave Management System
  • Administer the Employee Appraisal process
  • Assist in conducting training needs analysis and arranging appropriate training
  • Prepare and submit payroll-related and payment information
  • Assist employees with payroll-related questions
  • Assist with disciplinary and grievance matters including administering discipline
  • Assist in identifying and developing programmes to promote employee engagement
  • Prepare reports including turnover, staff demographics, etc.
  • Provide supervision and direction to direct reports

 Job Requirements

  • BSc in Business/Human Resources or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of Jamaica Labour Laws
